Why Federal Practices Matter?

<aside> ⭐ While Reading This, Keep in Mind:

Companies using Equal Opportunity Employment must abide by federal data collection standards, and when there is data collection from government, sex and gender is required.

Importance of Federal Government SOGI Collection:

The Federal Government uses SOGI data to maximize the amount of detail reported for both sexual orientation and gender identity items, facilitating a more comprehensive identification. Failing to collect this data in federal purposes can further marginalize this already marginalized community

Without this collection LGBTQ+ communities' experiences will not be understood by the federal government which is essential in:

1) Crafting sound policies that are inclusive of LGBTQI+ people and their needs

2) Evaluating the effectiveness of policies to address disparities and promote more equitable outcomes.
